  • Hacker Success Manager, Community

    United States or Canada- Remote Customer Success

    Position Summary 

    HackerOne is seeking an energetic and self-motivated community or customer success expert to join our growing global Community Team. The Hacker Success Manager is a part of a dedicated team responsible for hacker relationships, coordinating and monitoring their success, support and advocacy both on and off-platform. Each Hacker Success Manager has a dedicated portfolio of hackers within our global community which they manage throughout their journey at HackerOne. 

    Within this portfolio, they will be those hacker’s dedicated advocates to help support, monitor and increase engagement and connect hackers with new opportunities. They are also responsible for gathering feedback from hackers and working with internal HackerOne teams to improve the hacker experience and product suite. This HSM will focus on a cohort of hackers in the earlier stages of their bug bounty journey on HackerOne. 

    The Hacker Success Management team crafts great hacker experiences by being our hackers’ most trusted advocates. This growing team is new to HackerOne and ideal candidates will be strategic, energetic and self-motivated.

    The Community Team’s mission is to ensure that HackerOne is the #1 source of education, support, and financial opportunity for our global hacker community. 

    Your Journey at HackerOne

    This role is integral in achieving HackerOne’s Community growth, retention, support and education strategies. Championing our hackers is the heart and soul of our Community Team, and this role will be integral to the success and empowerment of our global hacker community. 

    • Work with a dedicated portfolio of hackers to customize and manage their entire journey on HackerOne, including tracking and monitoring activity, helping to drive engagement and connecting hackers to the right opportunities at the right time

    • You will be these hacker’s biggest champion, both internally within the organization and externally

    • Help these hackers with mediations or related issues, driving for mutually beneficial resolutions

    • Help to build growth goals and core milestones for hackers within your portfolio, monitoring progress and providing support and targeted points within a hacker’s journey

    • Monitor hacker’s internal and external experiences on applicable forums, such as public slack workspaces, Discord, Twitter, etc. to help guide them towards and celebrate successes

    • Serve as liaison between hackers and HackerOne internal departments (sales, product, engineering, marketing, etc.) in order to ensure that all milestones and requirements are met

    • Contribute to the refinement of the HackerOne Hacker Success methodology, continuing to build strategy and process improvements

    • When applicable, train hackers on the HackerOne product set and ensure they are set up for success when interacting with customers

    • Deliver data-driven benchmarking, insights and recommendations aimed at growing a hacker’s connections and engagement on our platform

    • Champion product features on behalf of hackers and participate in product discussions

    • In addition to maintaining a manageable cohort of hackers on a 1:1 basis, you will also be responsible for maintaining communication forums that reach a broad spectrum of the community (e.g. Discord)

    • Work with a group of moderators to monitor and improve behavior of big communites

    • Look for improvements in the Discord server to make it more appealing for hackers to join and participate

    • Support the Community Team on various initiatives, such as h@cktivitycon, speaking engagements, live hacking events or other hacker-facing projects

    • Ability to travel, around 10–15%, as required

    Who you are 

    • 5+ years of customer service or community management experience, ideally within the security industry

    • Must be an organized individual who is a strong collaborator, who can leverage cross-functional relationships to build and drive hacker success 

    • Self-directed, action oriented individual with an aptitude and desire to work in fast-paced startup environment

    • Excellent written communication and presentation skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and leaders across the organization

    • Ability to analyze and solve problems, perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects

    • Naturally curious, investigative, and positively challenge status-quo 

    • Outstanding time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines

    • Experience with Gainsight and Discord or other customer management platforms preferred

    • Evaluate assigned vulnerability reports submitted by hackers to determine the validity, risk and severity to HackerOne customers

    • Collaborate with hackers to address missing information from reports as well as educate the HackerOne community members when reports are invalid

    • Compose a technical summary for each valid report that includes clear and concise details regarding the impact, steps to reproduce and remediation advice

    • Ensure clear and efficient communication between hackers and customers

    • Proactively identify and solve issues, as well as accept and quickly respond to delegated work; as we are distributed, being able to win as a team to solve problems is critical to our success

    Who You Are

    • Proven experience with vulnerability disclosure and bug bounty (experience managing a bug bounty program is a plus but not required)

    • Strong technical knowledge of OWASP top 10

  • Staff Software Engineer, Pentests

    United States or Canada- Remote Engineering

    Position Summary

    As Staff Software Engineer, you will work with Product Managers, Designers and Principal Engineers  to be the technical lead for a variety of challenging projects. When you are not leading a project, you are a collaborative and effective software engineer and team member. You will interact with one of the most vibrant communities of security researchers and hackers in the world, and use this experience to build delightful features and products for them, as well as the thousands of companies who trust HackerOne with their cybersecurity.

    As Staff Engineer, you will join the team working on the HackerOne Pentest product, that allows companies to leverage the vast pentesting experience of our hacker community. HackerOne was recently named as a leader in GigaOm’s ‘Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS) Radar’ report. To bolster this position, there will be plenty of challenging projects for the engineering squads working in this product area.

    As Staff Engineer, you combine broad technological expertise, deep domain knowledge, and an unquestionable dedication to business objectives as you intersect with the engineering organization. You seek leadership responsibilities, identify and spearhead new initiatives, and make systematic improvements to technical weaknesses you find in your squad’s codebase, and in shared codebases across the company.

    • Your first day will start with a warm welcome during our company onboarding day. Your laptop will have been shipped to you. After the onboarding day, you will be set up and ready to go!

    • Your first 30 days will be focused on getting to know our HackerOnies. You will join your new squad and begin engineering onboarding - getting to know the technology stack (Ruby on Rails + GraphQL + Apollo + ReactJS + many more)

    • Within 60 days, you will have committed a bunch of code to our repositories and will start developing a knack for being a fast and effective software engineer on our codebase.

    • Within 90 days, you will have led your first engineering project and will start onboarding for the Tech Lead role. In this role, you will be the main point of contact for the Product Manager and Designer on your squad to provide input on technical viability of solutions that are under consideration.

    • Act as Admin of website Content Management System (CMS), Drupal

    • The primary content author that creates new pages, sections or hubs for gated content, event registrations, product launches, etc. Supports other secondary content authors as needed with posting press releases, blogs, or open job roles.

    • Manage the website tools and tech stack to ensure interoperability, and build out additional tools to enhance the website experience.

    Who you are

    • Experience with complex content management systems, with some working knowledge of Drupal.

    • 6+ years in a website marketing role with an emphasis web development, content authoring, website UX design and website analytics

    • 6+ years of enterprise B2B marketing experience
