At HackerOne, we know that rest fuels performance and that sometimes the best way to move forward is to pause together. That’s the idea behind Recharge Week: a company-wide break that gives everyone space to disconnect, reset, and return recharged.

Now in its second year, Recharge Week is a collective pause designed to reduce the stress of returning to a full inbox or missed conversations. When the company steps away at the same time, it makes space for real rest, whatever that looks like for each person. From quiet moments at home to unforgettable trips across the world. Here’s a glimpse into how some of us chose to recharge.

“During Recharge Week, I traveled to Norway. It included a train ride across the south of the country, a road trip through the fjords, hikes, art and history museums, and even black metal. For me, the magnificent nature stood out the most: mountains, fjords, and waterfalls. Since everyone was out the same week, Recharge Week helped me relax without worrying about Slack threads or catching up later.”

 — Vlad Osypov, Senior Manager, Software Engineering, California, U.S.

“I am grateful for Recharge Week because it gave me the space to slow down and soak up Curacao with my family. It was the perfect chance to introduce our baby to international travel and make some sweet first memories together.”

 — Jenna Newman, Hacker Success Manager, Community, Florida, U.S.

“I took full advantage of Recharge Week to swap Slack for souvlaki and fully check out in Kos. A chance to explore the treasures of Greece, spend time with my wife, and revisit a place that holds some of our earliest memories. All my favourite things!”

 — Kate Lakey, Software Engineer II, United Kingdom

“I started my Recharge Week by visiting my family and celebrating my sister's birthday. It meant so much to me to be able to visit my parents and my siblings and have some wholesome fun baking, making bracelets, and spending time together.”

 — Marina Briones, Communications and Events Specialist, Nevada, U.S.

During Recharge Week, I was able to scuba dive on one of the most amazing sites I have seen, Wolf Rock. Located between Rainbow Beach and K'gari Island (Australia), these volcanic spires are the only known gestation site for the grey nurse shark. While the dive was challenging — a 7ft swell testing sea legs and a 100ft drop with strong tidal currents — once on the bottom, surrounded by sharks, all the challenges melted away.”

 — Dirk Zittersteyn, Staff Software Engineer, Netherlands

By creating time for rest, we show up better for each other. We are able to be more present, energized, and connected. Recharge week isn’t just a perk. It’s one way we put our values into action, delivering excellent work while prioritizing the well-being of our people.
