In September 2018, PayPal joined forces with HackerOne to launch a public bug bounty program. In just six months, they’d received contributions from nearly 900 researchers across 56 countries -- more than double the amount of the prior six months of PayPal’s self-run program.
In the first year, PayPal has rewarded hackers with over $1.5 million in bounties and resolved more than 300 vulnerabilities.
